Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc plot, release date

For the uninitiated, Tokyo Revengers revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, a freeter who lives life miserably. One day, he finds out that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana and Hinata’s brother Naoto, were slain by the Tokyo Manji (ToMan) gang. After a series of mysterious events, Takemichi is transported 10 years back in the past, allowing him to save Hinata from a horrible future. However, to do so, he must get involved with the Tokyo Manji Gang, led by Manjiro ‘Mikey’ Sano.

Entering the Tenjiku Arc, Takemichi learns more about the complex backstory of the Tokyo Manji Gang, which changes his perspective regarding his fate-altering mission. It also uncovers the group’s altercations with the famed Yokohama Tenjiku Gang and what it means for the present-day storyline of the narrative.

Reasons to watch Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc

1. It tells us that not everything in life is what it seems

Considering that Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc already covers Chapter 122 onwards of the original source material, one might think that we already know what we can about the existing characters in the series. However, the story — along with the truths about the characters Takemichi encounters — remains unpredictable, making for an entertaining watch.

The series also captures Takemichi’s point of view in a manner familiar to any viewer, young or old, highlighting that there’s always a deeper backstory to anything and anyone if only we are willing to discover it.

2. It will make us revisit our what-ifs, adding to the excitement of the viewing experience

The entire storyline of Tokyo Revengers, including the Tenjiku Arc, plays on the idea of what-ifs. Takemichi was able to do over his past, be it his future as a freeter or the fate of his childhood sweetheart, but not without its hurdles (which make the series truly exciting). However, the appeal of Tokyo Revengers lies in its ability to make the viewers think about their what-if moments, be it in recent instances or way into the past. That said, it doesn’t just bank on the immediate appeal to the viewers’ emotions, it is also able to deliver a thrilling storyline that is detached from the viewers’ reality.
